Colostrum for Dogs, Cats, Horses, Snakes (believe it or not) and Other Pets

Bovine colostrum works for all mammals including dogs, cats, and horses. People get great benefit from colostrum, as do all mammals, but dogs with various health disorders and older dogs typically benefit hugely from colostrum supplementation, at least in my experience. Customers always report that their dogs become more energetic and playful. Colostrum supplementation works with any mammalian pet, and in at least one instance, surprisingly, apparently worked for a snake. The snake had been diagnosed with cryptosporidiosis serpentis, which was supposed to be fatal, and recovered after being given colostrum. (see Colostrum for use as a supplement is harvested from dairy cattle after the newborn calf has drunk an amount adequate for its health needs. Only colostrum harvested within about six hours of calving provides all the benefit that colostrum is designed to. The Science

"Bovine colostrum is biologically transferable to all mammals, including humans."--Zoltan Rona, M.D., The American Journal of Natural Medicine, March 1998

Colostrum contains all five immunoglobulins: IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG and IgM; cytokines, which regulate the immune system and are anti-tumorous; interlukin-10, which controls inflammation due to arthritis, injury or infection; lymphokines, which regulate the immune system; gonadotropin releasing hormone; lactoferrin, which contains leukocytes integral to the production of interferon, inhibiting viral reproduction; growth factors including IGF-1, the active form of human growth hormone, epithelial growth factor fibroblast growth factor, transforming growth factors A and B; Prolactin, associated peptide, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and other healthful components. In short, colostrum contains everything that the newborn needs to be healthy, disease free, and strong. Colostrum works for adults as well as newborns.

Usage note: Colostrum can be added to pet food, although many dogs will eat the lozenges like treats, when handed to them. Usage amount is not critical. If a pet ate a whole jar of colostrum at one time it would do no harm and would be of benefit. Dogs, cats, and horses love the powder form. Dogs also love the lozenges. Some experimentation with usage amount may be needed. A lozenge or 1/4 tsp of the powder twice daily may be enough. Some conditions may require up to a tbsp of the powder twice daily.
